The Invocation Ceremony of IMS, marks the Welcoming of the newly admitted students in a grand formal event organized every year with the dawn of the new academic session. The ceremony witnesses the presence of eminent personalities from the industry as guests who address the freshers and welcomes them to begin their best years of life as they step into an entirely new facet of their academic pursuit - 'The College Life'. The ceremony is presided over by the honorable Vice Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) and our beloved Director addresses the students and welcomes them to pursuit their academic excellence at Institute of Management Studies. The freshers of each programme are introduced to the faculty members and the administrative staff of the Institute. Furthermore, they are taken into a virtual tour of the Institute with the help of a fabulous audio-visual presentation so that they can be familiar with the holistic culture of the Institute. After a refreshment break, follows the most awaited Informal Session of interaction between the seniors and the juniors. The blooming buds are then made to formally introduce themselves before the faculty and the senior students. They are put to fun filled tests and are made to display their talents. The entire event is organized by the senior students of all programmes.
HYURISKO
A Japanese word for "We Create", The Annual Management Fest of IMS, represents what IMS stands for - "A Tradition of Innovation". "Management... Fest...", What a combination ??? Two words... connected abstractly... distantly...and which hardly share any commonness, one mean serious business... and the other fun, frolic & funky stuff..., the combination may seem contradictory, antithetical and " Hard To Gel". But thats what management is all about "Blending Black With The Blonde". We management folks are made to go through the grill, those heavy appetizers of curriculum, those gravy-full dishes of seminars, those bulky assignments and those oily and fatty case studies. Well at Hyurisko, we have them all in our menu, but we understand we all have "A Sweet Tooth After We Dine". So, we have the Pudding with Icing. Yes, we have got Dessert of Campfire, Custard of Dance Floor and the Wine of Notes & Beats. We will Talk Shop and Chat Joy. In brief, we simulate the elite cabins of corporate & the teeny corridors of junior-high. We have a perfect blend of Formal & Informal events and games which not only tests and sharpens our management acumen but also delivers great fun to give a sense of togetherness. So, have a Safari in the Kenyan Woods, a dive in the Australian Great Barrier Reef & a Diwali in a traditional Indian Home. Or to say come.....join us.....at Hyurisko.... Hyurisko, being an inter-college national level management festival, several management Institutes from all over India participate in this mega event every year. If rapport and camaraderie is any measure of success then Hyurisko's success is grand.
PRABANDHANAM
The National Hospital Management Conference was organized at IMS by the students and the faculty to enrich the deliberations and discussions on current scenario and trends in health care. On Nov 24-25, 2004, "Prabandhanam - 2004", a two day National Conference was organized on the underlying theme "Hospital Administration : Emerging Trends". The Conference was aimed at creating a common platform where participants can understand different managerial roles, principles and procedures in hospital management. "A healthy mind rests in a healthy body." Believing in these words, IMS for the first time organized an intra-college sports meet during November 26-28, 2003 and thus the Annual Sports Meet of IMS - PRATISPARDHA was arranged. Pratispardha is a regular feature of a calendar event of IMS. Management Institutes are supposed to be places of case studies, discussions, presentations and much other business like things. To break this jinx, Pratispardha was organized at IMS, to provide the budding managers of tomorrow with a battleground to show their physical dexterity and their mental calibre. The event is meant to explore the sporting talents of students in different games like Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Volleyball, etc. Sportsmanship was at its epitome during the Pratispardha - 2004 and every team put its best efforts. Students and faculty came at the same platform and played with enthusiasm and vigour. Backed with a luminous history of more than 34 years, the Institute boasts of a strong alumni base, now placed at various strategic positions in their respective fields. The IMS Alumni Association (IMSAA) acts as a linking thread between these illustrious alumni and IMS family. To enliven the redolent memories of past and to bring the past, present and future on one platform we unfurl the velum of a grand event.
